AI & I Privacy Policy
Effective 1 October 2026.
This policy explains personal data used for the AI & I learning programme and its portal at ai-and-i.genwise.in. Bennett, Coleman & Company Limited (BCCL, The Times of India) decides the programme's purposes and controls its data. GenWise TalentDev Private Limited (GenWise) operates the portal and processes programme data under BCCL's instructions. ToI's separate privacy notice covers its college enrolment, subscriber account, and sign-in service.
What we receive and create
ToI supplies your programme identifier, name, email address or other approved contact detail, college, learning track, eligibility, account status, and any dates needed to manage access. We do not receive your ToI password. When you use the portal, we record your sign-in and security events, course activity and progress, quiz answers, uploaded work, forum posts, messages to support or privacy staff, feedback, grades, and certificate eligibility. We also use essential session cookies and a cookie for your light or dark display choice. External video or meeting services may use their own cookies when you open them.
Please do not put identity documents, financial details, health information, or another person's private information into work, forums, or support messages unless the task specifically requires it and provides an approved secure route.
Why we use it
We use this data to give you the right access; deliver lessons and live-session information; save and assess your work; moderate discussions; answer support and privacy requests; check completion and certificate eligibility; keep the service secure; and give BCCL the programme reports it requires. Authorised college coordinators may receive progress information for their own college when BCCL approves that access. We do not sell learner data, show behavioural advertising on the portal, or use identifiable programme data for GenWise marketing or unrelated product development.
ToI provides the programme notice and establishes the appropriate basis before it sends learner records to GenWise. We ask you to accept this policy when you first sign in to the portal. That acceptance is recorded against this version and does not replace ToI's earlier notice for data it has already shared.
AI assistance and other services
Staff may use BCCL-approved AI services to screen forum posts for possible guideline breaches and to prepare draft assessment feedback. A person handles posts requiring review and approves assessment results before release.
The portal is hosted on Amazon Web Services in India and uses its infrastructure and email services. Live sessions and recordings may use an external meeting or streaming service; course videos may use a separate host. If you open those services, they may receive information such as your IP address and viewing activity under their own notices. A BCCL-approved certificate partner may receive only the details needed to check and issue certificates. GenWise gives programme data to these providers only within BCCL's instructions and approvals. We will identify providers that process learner data outside India here before using them.
Who can see your data
You can see your own work and feedback. Other learners can see a forum post only after it is approved; they should not see your private support requests or grades. Trained GenWise staff see the data needed for delivery, assessment, support, and security. BCCL receives programme data and reports. College staff see only the scope BCCL authorises for their college. We may disclose information when law requires it, following the applicable process.
Retention and security
We keep learner records while they are needed to deliver the programme, assess work, respond to requests, and complete BCCL's reporting and certificate process. GenWise then returns or deletes programme data on BCCL's instructions, except where law requires retention; backups and security logs are removed under the applicable retention schedule. We use access controls, secure connections, staff permissions, and logging to protect data.
Your choices and requests
Ask to see or correct your programme data, raise a privacy concern, or request deletion or withdrawal through Contact us or privacy@ai-and-i.genwise.in. GenWise will coordinate the response with BCCL. For account details supplied by ToI, your college or ToI must make the source correction; we will reflect the updated record. Withdrawing the permission needed to run the programme may end your access, but it does not erase records that BCCL or law requires us to keep. If you are under 18, ask your parent or guardian and ToI/your college about any consent process that applies to you.
BCCL's data protection contact is dpo@timesofindia.com. GenWise's programme privacy contact is privacy@ai-and-i.genwise.in. We will post any material change to this policy with a new version and date before it takes effect.
